Day 9

Star Wars & Dukes of Hazzard - Kate and I finally went to see Star Wars. It was AWESOME!!! It doesn’t happen very often but this movie truly met all of my expectations. Our only disappointment was learning that the powers-that-be were now playing the movie on a smaller screen. The new Batman flick came out this week and took the place of Star Wars in the theater with Dolby surround sound and stadium seating. That's fair I guess. The HAMPTON THEATER SUCKS!! Anyway, the action scenes were incredible, the cinematography was awesome, and I was left with the feeling that this movie truly brought the whole series of six movies together. (In a totally unrelated question) Do you think the Emperor and Skeletor are friends, or maybe brothers? I think so. I can see the resemblance. Maybe they are cousins.

Is anybody else pissed about this new Dukes of Hazzard movie? Have you seen the previews? I saw the preview for this movie before Star Wars. I was pretty bummed about the selection for the entire cast. Johnny Knoxville is Luke, Seann William Scott is Bo, Burt Reynolds is Boss Hogg (AHHHHHHH, I’m getting angrier the more I think about all of this, come on…Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogf, are you kidding me?), Willie Nelson is Uncle Jesse, and Jessica Simpson is Daisy Duke. I knew they had cast Jessica Simpson and Willie Nelson, but I just learned the rest. I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard and we had many great adventures together, and for some reason I was expecting more from this than what we are getting. I guess when I heard that Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson were cast I should have guessed that I would initially be disappointed. I’m not sure exactly what I expected. I guess I’ll just have to wait until I see the movie to truly be able to judge it…maybe it will be good. Who knows?

See ya.

Day 8

Podcast Review - Ever since I received my iPod and discovered Podcasting I've been on the lookout for great podcasts to listen to. About four months ago I happened to come across the Delta Park Project. This podcast has become a standard in my iPod. Jason and Anna always put together a great show. They have a nailed down format so you know what to expect each time you tune in. They always make me laugh with their insight on pop culture, music, movies, and even cartoons. I have always enjoyed their show...until today. I listened to show #32 and everything seemed to be going fine until they decided to try something new. The new segment was called "Two minutes with Lee". This new segment included Two Minute Lee doing reviews of the new releases (CDs, DVDs) that were to come out on Tuesday. Two Minute Lee was patched in thru Skype and the segment sounded great, that was until the Coldplay review. Now I want you to know that I am a Coldplay fan, and I purchased their new album, X&Y. It's definitely not Parachutes (their first album) but I think it's a good album. Anyway, this guy (Two Minute Lee) had nothing but bad things to say about it. He basically said that you might as well listen to something else an not even bother with the new Coldplay album. He then went on to do a review of the new White Stripes album. Two Minute Lee said that it is a very difficult listen and then encouraged us all to check out the album and give it a chance. During the segment he played a clip from the Whit Stripes and I have to say, the song sounded like shit. I like the White Stripes, but the song they played was just shitty. He never backtracked and encouraged us to give the new Coldplay a chance. Who the hell is this guy and why do we care what he thinks? I always wonder about the critics. Why does their opinion matter? So that's my rant about the Delta Park Project show #32. I will keep listening because I like their format and their humor. I also like the fact that they brought someone on their show that seriously pissed me off. A good show should bring out some emotion. I won't however change my opinion of Two Minute Lee. If you are going to tell people that they should work on learning to like an album (I mean really work at it), then why not say that we should try and work to like another?

I just want to take this opportunity to say that I knew all along that Michael Jackson wouldn't get convicted. I'm not saying that I like him, and I am not a fan. From what I heard about the case, it sounded like his accuser and his family were out to make a buck. Now, it may not be true, for all we know he did molest those kids...I just don't think there was a good enough case. If anything, this case just showed us again how weird Michael Jackson truely is.

See ya.

Day 7

Feedburner Discovery - Last night Katie and I met up with one of our best friends, Brian, whom we haven't seen since our wedding last August. It was great seeing him and having a drink together! While we were enjoying our drinks he and I got talking about podcasting and then on to news aggregators. Brian informed me that he uses Newsgator, the Outlook version, to keep up on all of his news. I talked a bit about how I have begun to dabble in blogging and he said that he would try to check out my blog. After talking to him about this I began to wonder if there was a way that I could make it easier for all of my friends to subscribe to my blog. I have seen many types of "buttons" on different blogs, so, like I always do, I spent three hours researching these "buttons", set myself up with a Newsgator membership (just the online version), and then I stumbled onto Feedburner. Holy Shit! Feedburner is exactly what I have been looking for. They have everything a rookie/future podcaster could ever want when getting started. I still have much, much more to learn about Feedburner, but I'm pretty sure that now my feed will be turned into RSS format. On top of that, I now will be able to track if anybody is subscribing to my feed and what they are looking at the most. I was able to find formatting for different buttons that I wanted to put on my blog, and Feedburner made that extremely easy. I LOVE FEEDBURNER!! Anyway, I spent three hours playing around on the computer today just so I could add a couple of new buttons to my blog...I'm so proud of myself. I'm such a geek! I blame Brian....

Harv called to tell me that some new flowers had bloomed in his yard, so I'll be posting some new pics tomorrow...

See ya.
